Update from Bandra Garib Nagar

The situation in Garibnagar Bandra, where more than 2500 houses were burnt is
still critical and thousands of people are still languishing in the streets. A
relief camp has been set up collectively by YUVA, CCDT, KSWA, ASEEMA and Plan
India.

Food and cloths are pouring in as relief. MCGM has set up mobile toilets and
the sulab toilet has been made free. Two medical camps have been set up in the
area. Doctors from CSSC and Holy Family are also giving free treatment to the
affected people. Utensils and mats are being distributed by TV 9 channel. We will
issue an appeal if we need anything more.

An attempt is being made to coordinate between the various relief camps and
children are being assisted to go for examinations in the school.

Panchanamas has started and the intervention was to get panchanama of both
owners and tenants. This is where the concentration is presently involved.

From YUVA, Arokia Mary and Sitaram Shelar is coordinating the work at the site
along with Mr. Devdatta Deshpande of Plan India and Pramod Nigudkar of CCDT and
a coordination desk has been created at Dadar office:- 02224327350/ 65155178, for
any donations pl call.
