India has the highest incidence of head injuries in the world. More than one lakh lives are lost every year due to road traffic accidents. Trauma care is a neglected area in India . Lack of infrastructure, knowledge and initiative from "first responders" contributes to the high mortality.

The Founder of Indian Head Injury Foundation (IHIF) is HH Maharaja Gajsinghji II of Jodhpur . When his son, Shivraj Singh met with a serious head injury while playing polo in Jaipur, the Maharaja became aware of the inadequate infrastructure prevailing in India with regard to management of traumatic brain injury (TBI). It is then that he resolved to take steps towards rectifying this problem, so that other Indians, especially those who do not have adequate resources, can receive high quality medical aid immediately following injury and during subsequent rehabilitation.

He together with trustees, like Mr. K.P. Singh of DLF Ltd and Mr. N.K. Singh, MP (Rajya Sabha) formed the Indian Head Injury Foundation.

First Mumbai Giving Circle meet on 29th May, 2010

We, at GiveIndia understand that apart from a credible and transparent due-diligence process, an ability to create a larger impact at the grassroot will help you to enhance and engage in your giving. Hence, the Mumbai Giving Circle has been formed to give an opportunity to engage directly with NGOs and other like minded individuals to pool resources together and create a greater impact.

Over a 3 hour session, NGOs will present details on their organization, work and a very specific funding need. Multiple donors can pool resources together and complete the funding requirement of a SINGLE project.

As most funding requirement are significantly larger compared to donation options on our website, the Giving Circle provides an opportunity for multiple donors to pool resources for a SINGLE project.
